Acht Künstlerinnen und Künstler hinterfragen mit ihren ganz eigenen Methoden die Dominanz des Spektakels in der Mainstream-Kunst und stellen die Standardrolle des menschlichen Körpers als zentrale Figur und konsumierbare Ware in performativen Arbeiten in Frage.
Diese Ausstellung ist ein Versuch, aus den gegenwärtig endemischen sozialen Rollen von Spektakel und Zuschauer, Darsteller und Publikum, Beobachter und Beobachtetem herauszutreten. Indem sie diese impliziten relationalen Rollen in Kunsträumen hervorhebt, hinterfragt diese Ausstellung die historische Zentralität des Selbst, des Körpers und des Objekts in der Kunst.

Im Jahr 2016 wurde Beyond als Fotomagazin im Zeitungsformat initiiert, um einen Dialog zwischen Fotografinnen und Fotografen in Gang zu setzen, der sich auf die breitere Gemeinschaft ausdehnen sollte. Die dritte Ausgabe des Magazins nutzt die Sprache der Kunst, um einen Raum zu öffnen, in dem sich Fotografinnen und Fotografen aus verschiedenen Regionen der Welt treffen, Ideen austauschen, voneinander lernen und neue Bilder jenseits klischeehafter und stereotyper Perspektiven schaffen.

OFF-Biennale Budapest is a series of exhibitions and art events in and beyond the city of Budapest. Its concept is different from traditional biennials as we know them. Not affiliated with any institution, it is a voluntary collaborative initiative of artists, groups of artists, curators, art managers, gallerists and collectors. OFF-Biennale Budapest is a civil initiative, whose aim is to bring a segment of culture, contemporary art, closer to the public at large. OFF proclaims the importance of independent thinking and action, breaking away from clichés and habitual routines. It is meant to demonstrate that contemporary art can foster and catalyse this kind of activity – in other words, that contemporary art is much more than mere luxury and a source of aesthetic pleasure.

Stelios Kallinikou's Flamingo Theatre is situated across and beyond a 7km stretch of undeveloped flat land on the East coast of the Akrotiri peninsula in Limassol, Cyprus, titled Lady's Mile. The beach is located within the British Western Sovereign Base Area, one of two territories (the other being Dhekelia) controversially retained by the British under the 1960 treaty of independence. A playful nod to the past, it received its name after the first British governor's horse 'Lady', which he would exercise along the coastal stretch.

The Brussels-based collectors Herman Daled and Nicole Daled refuse to perceive art as decoration and to, thereby, exploit it. They approach art in a fundamentally different way: Basis for their activities are their relationships and conversations with artists.
In keeping with the aim of Conceptual Art that places the intellectual content of a work above its realisation, they consider themselves not collectors but communicators and producers: They provide artists with the opportunity to also realise works outside of established market mechanisms. Their intense engagement with Conceptual Art, one of the most important movements in recent art history, goes far beyond usual collecting practices. This is not only apparent in the actual works, but also in the meticulously archived documents containing actions and works.
One of the most important influences for Herman and Nicole Daled was Marcel Broodthaers, more than 80 of his works are in their collection. Moreover, the collection holds several works by Daniel Buren, Dan Graham, On Kawara, Sol Lewitt, Niele Toroni, Lawrence Weiner, Cy Twombly and many more.

Patrick Hartl (*1976) is a German contemporary artist with a passion for handwriting and lettering. As of age 15, he was painting Graffiti and learning the ropes of art within the urban sphere. His graphic studies revealed a love for calligraphy and stylised writing with deep roots in the gothic script of his native Germany. Patrick Hartl connects old craftsmanship with modern street style. On closer inspection, Hartl’s seemingly monochrome works turn out to be the result of a multitude of layers of paint and a colourful diversity. His favourite canvas is a ten-years-old wall, which has been bombed, cleaned, bombed again, crashed, washed, damaged, but which always tells a new and unique story. As a master of handcrafted designs and analogue works, and one of the foremost urban calligraphers, Patrick Hartl has been involved in making art for more than two decades. An avid collaborator, Hartl belongs to the “CALLIGRAFFITI AMBASSADORS” and, in addition to exhibiting in traditional galleries from New York to Buenos Aires to Tokyo, and he has painted murals across Europe and beyond.

This book is published on the occasion of the project Dandilands at Troodos, Cyprus, August 2014 to October 2015. Best known for his series on clandestine military bases and spy satellites, Trevor Paglen’s practice reaches far beyond museum walls. Enter Prof. Dr. of Pseudology, Anna McCarthy, with her HOW TO START A REVOLUTION book and its endless footnotes and twists and turns. She explains to us the chronology of politics and personal occurrences through this haze of a microcosm.
HOW TO START A REVOLUTION is a multi-layered work that deals with clichés of rebelliousness. It is embedded in socio-political events from 2007 to 2015 and their mediated and subjective reception. It deals with rebellion in limbo, in which change seems ominent, mirroring the current political atmosphere. Geographically anchored in Munich and Bavaria, it reaches beyond the local peculiarities and relocates them into the context of historical global events. A microcosm of reoccuring people and places stand in as exemplary figures for global events in a humorous, absurd, and critical manner. Examples are documentaries such as 'Bored Rebel in Oberpfaffenhofen' or ridiculously provocative political actions in public spaces, numerous "in-flux" archives, a pathetic musical, which was first performed in 2013 at Haus der Kunst, and even a permanent installation in Tito’s ex-Bunker in the hills of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project has been exhibited internationally, including at Nottingham Gallery for Contemporary Art, Chisenhale Gallery London, Schloss Ringenberg, Galleribox Akureyri Iceland, Goethe University Frankfurt, D-0 Ark Underground, Konjic, and at Transmission Gallery in Glasgow, amongst other locations. ...

Neben der Ausstellung gab es Aktionen und Interventionen im Stadtraum Berlin. Im Anschluss war die Ausstellung in Neuhausen/Fildern zu sehen, ehe sie nach Venedig zur Biennale wanderte. Ausgangspunkt des Projektes bildet die Untersuchung von künstlerischen Aktionen in ihrem jeweiligen Medien und Politikkontext. Es werden Aktionen präsentiert und analysiert, die in einem Rahmen entstehen, in dem formell Kunst- und Meinungsfreiheit besteht, die jedoch bewusst als Provokation und Skandalproduktion die Grenzen der Legitimität überschreiten, um auf politische und gesellschaftliche Bedingungen aufmerksam zu machen oder um das Kunstsystem selbst in Frage zu stellen.

Zur Ausstellung im BBK München 25.07.- 27.08.2023. Im letzten Raum wird die Filmdokumentation über Eva Hesse Walking the Edge gezeigt. Es ist eine Ausstellung, die dem Leben und Werk der verstorbenen Künstlerin Eva Hesse gewidmet ist. Hesse war eine in Deutschland geborene amerikanische Bildhauerin, die für ihre bahnbrechenden Arbeiten mit Materialien wie Latex, Fiberglas und Kunststoff bekannt ist. Sie gehört zu den Künstler*innen, die in den 1960er Jahren die Bewegung der Postminimal Art einleiteten. An der Ausstellung nehmen 20 Künstlerinnen teil, die sich in ihrer Arbeit von Hesse inspirieren lassen. Jede Künstlerin wurde gebeten, ein Werk zu schaffen, das in irgendeiner Weise auf Hesse Bezug nimmt, sei es auf die von ihr verwendeten Materialien und Formen oder einfach auf ihr faszinierendes Leben. Tragischerweise starb sie bereits im jungen Alter von 34 Jahren. Diese Ausstellung ist ein Fest und eine Hommage an eine wunderbare Künstlerin, die mehr als 50 Jahre nach ihrem Tod noch immer andere inspiriert.

Gohar Dashti ist eine iranisch-amerikanische Künstlerin, die bedeutende Beiträge im Bereich der Fotografie geleistet hat.
